Screening Instruments
In addition to the comprehensive Youth Assessment Tool, Northpointe Licensing gives Melissa access to several other validated risk assessment tools outlined below:

1. Initial Screening
A file review provides information necessary to gain a starting point for where the client is
and what his/her most salient criminogenic needs are.

2. Detention Screening
This tool is available for use if detention during court action is in question. The instrument
also provides a framework for establishing what type of detention and/or placement is most
appropriate based on the offenders' current and past history.

3. Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale
This validated instrument determines the youth's level of risk for suicide

4. Youth Risk-Needs Assessment - Risk Scales
Once the Northpointe, Inc. Youth Assessment has been administered, criminogenic needs
can be assessed by reviewing the scales rating in 6 relevant categories (Peers, Personality,
Risk Behaviors, Education, Family and Living Situation.

5. Adult Risk-Needs Assessment showing Risk Scales
The Adult Assessment looks at both historical data and current function

6. UNCOPE
This tool assesses a youth's drug and/or alcohol use and its impairment on their life.
Screening implements treatment recommendations if the score meets a threshold.

7. What I Want to Work On (WIWTWO)
This tool assesses a youth's motivation to change risk behaviors, or identifies what the youth
perceives are his/her issues of concern.
